In the late 70’s Matt was working in the insurance industry and was exposed to a management training program. Some of the info stuck. Among the lessons learned was the management of Quality, Quantity, Cost, and Time. Although the training was centered around the insurance business, over the years Matt has also used these four elements to advise customers in choosing options for projects. Try it yourself, think about a project you want to do around the house. You’ll see that you’ll be trading priorities in these four major areas.

During World War II the Army Corps of Engineers needed to hide the Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant to protect it from a Japanese air attack. They covered it with camouflage netting and to make it look like a rural subdivision from the air.

Brandguard Home Vents

The problem with conventional vent designs is that they offer little to no defense against an approaching wildfire. Laboratory research shows that fire enters into the attic space unimpeded within seconds of exposure.

August 1st 2009 (Faux Wood Painted Garage Door ):
fauxwoodgaragedoor A beautiful wood garage door will cost you $5000 plus, not including stain and urethane. Plus, if it’s facing the sun (that’s south, east, or west, in this hemisphere-75% chance) you’ll probably need to sand, stain, and reseal every year. What’s the alternative? Faux paint your steel door to look like an expensive wood door. 99% of people who see this door, even close up, don’t realize it’s an inexpensive steel roll-up sectional.

Virtually, any surface can be painted to look like wood in any color, graining, or “texture” you can think of. But faux painting doesn’t stop there. Trained painters (and DIYers with practice) can paint marble, granite, just about any faux finish on just about anything. In fact, “marble” columns in some famous buildings are actually wood, painted to look like marble.

If you have more questions or want a referral to a painter, you can call us 800-841-1999 or send us an e-mail
